You have had an email from a company you have probably never heard of, about somebody you knew. If your first thought was that it might be a scam, that is a sensible thought and this page is written for it. There is no hurry. The letter will still be there tomorrow.
The person who wrote to you set this up while they were well, and asked us to hold it until we could be reasonably sure they had died. So we did not act quickly, on purpose.
We emailed them repeatedly and got no answer. We waited more than a month. Then we asked two people they had named separately, and both of them confirmed it, independently. If either one had told us they had heard from them, nothing would have been sent to you at all.
None of that makes this easier to read. It is the reason you can trust that it is real.
You are right to ask, and you should not take our word for it. Here is what you can check without trusting us: we never ask you for money, card details, a password, or a bank account. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to download. If any message claiming to be us asks you for any of those things, it is not us. The link you were sent shows the letter and nothing else.
We do not take one person's word for it. Two people, named separately by the person who wrote to you, both had to confirm it independently, after we had failed to reach that person across repeated check-ins over more than a month. If either of them had said they had heard from them, nothing would have been sent. That is the whole reason the process takes as long as it does.
The person named in the email wrote it themselves, at some point before they died, and chose you to receive it. We did not write it, edit it, or read it. It is shown to you exactly as they left it.
No. Letters are encrypted while we hold them, we do not analyse what people write, and we never use anything written here to train any AI. We can see that a letter exists and who it was addressed to. We do not read the words.
